Linguistics Games by Nathan Sanders

Here are some of the educational games I've created for linguistics, mostly for practicing IPA symbols, phonetic terminology, and phonological features:

Print and play

IPA Bingo for general North American English (modelled after Cascadilla Press's original): bingo sheets and calling cards (double border for calling out natural classes for a faster game, single border for calling out individual phones for a slower game)

IPA Bingo for standard French (with Fatimi Hamlaoui): bingo sheets and calling cards

IPA Discard for non-English consonants (shedding game modelled after Crazy Eights and Uno): rules and cards

IPA Hunt for non-English vowels (guessing game modelled after Battleship): rules and playsheet

Online (all created with Flippity.net)

Acoustics Apple Picker (guessing game for acoustics terminology, modelled after Hangman)

online version of IPA Bingo for general North American English: online card generator and randomizable lists for calling out individual phones and natural classes

IPA English Consonant Open Match (matching game modelled after Concentration, with face-up cards)

IPA English Consonant Memory Match #1 (harder matching game, with face-down cards)

IPA English Consonant Memory Match #2 (even harder matching game, with more face-down cards)

IPA Vowel Open Match (matching game for non-English vowels and diacritics, with face-up cards)

IPA Vowel Memory Match (harder matching game for non-English vowels and diacritics, with face-down cards)

IPA Consonant Trap boardgame and rules (novel matching and logical puzzle game for non-English consonants)

Phonological Features Open Match #1 (matching game for phonological features)

Phonological Features Open Match #2 (harder matching game for phonological features)
